Hopi candles – the art of delicate healing

A bit of history:
Fire has always been a source of heat and lighting but the Indians from a tribe called Hopi in North America have also made fire a natural and very effective means of treatment.
They used fire and hollow candles in the shape of cones as part of an ancient healing technique.
The meaning of the name Hopi is: “the peaceful man” – something that indicates the effect of the candle also on the mental layer beyond the physical.
Hopi candles were also used as a spiritual tool. Ancient murals that were discovered reveal the importance of caring for these candles at the beginning of various tribal ceremonies.
In fact, the use of hollow candles in the shape of cones was used thousands of years ago in ancient cultures such as ancient Egypt, Tibet, China, the Inca tribes, the Maya and the Aztecs. All of these have been used to treat ear problems and to purify and calm the mind.
During the last decades and after research in the field by the modern world, the treatment of these candles among the Western world has become common and proved to be extremely effective.

What is a Hopi candle and how does it work?
The Hopi candle is not a candle in the conventional sense of the word but a hollow cylinder made from a combination of paraffin, herbs and rich in essential oils such as sage and chamomile. – There are candles made of beeswax instead of paraffin.
During the burning of the candle in the upper and wide part of the hollow cylinder, a gentle suction and suction action is naturally created.
The warmth of the candle and the vapor of essential oils and herbs are released into the ear, softening the wax and debris that accumulates in the ear and the candle draws it into it.

The Hopi candle treatment is non-invasive and painless.
Suitable for all ages from babies to the elderly.

How is the treatment performed?

Before starting treatment, a comprehensive questioning of the patient is performed to make sure he is fit for treatment.
The treatment itself is performed while the patient is lying on his side.
The candle consists of a shield and a small cover. Light the wide side of the candle and insert its thin, narrow side very gently into the tip of the ear. (The candle is not inserted deep, but right in the opening of the ear in a way that prevents the smoke inside it from escaping and thereby losing the effectiveness of the treatment).
The patient may hear a kind of pleasant murmur of sea waves inside the ear. The noise and action of the candle is very soothing and even causes a slight drowsiness.
While burning the candle, a gentle massage of the forehead, sinus areas and around the ear is performed.
In the middle of burning the candle, take it out to cut out the half that has already been burned and then return it to the ear for further treatment.
When the candle burns up to the marking line located near the cover, take it out and put it out in a glass of water.
The patient moves to lie on the other side and repeats the same operations

The burning time of the candle is about 5 minutes.
At the end of the treatment, you can see in the lower part of the candle all the excess wax and debris that was sucked out of the ear during the treatment.

I combine the Hopi candle treatment with the reflexology, so that at the end of the candle treatment in both ears I complete it by a focused and relaxing reflexology treatment.
